Job Description

Solar Plan Drafter Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Solar Plan Drafter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and code-compliant residential and commercial solar plan sets for permitting and installation. This role requires strong drafting skills, knowledge of photovoltaic (PV) systems, and the ability to work closely with project managers, engineers, and permit coordinators. Responsibilities Create complete solar permit plan sets using AutoCAD or similar drafting software. Produce site plans, roof layouts, single-line diagrams, and electrical drawings. Ensure plans comply with local building, electrical, and fire codes. Review project information, satellite imagery, and customer documents to develop accurate designs. Coordinate revisions based on engineering feedback and AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements. Maintain organized project documentation and meet production deadlines. Collaborate with engineering, sales, and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle. Qualifications Experience drafting residential or commercial solar PV systems. Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software. Understanding of NEC requirements and solar permitting processes. Ability to read architectural and structural plans. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and time management abilities. Experience with Aurora Solar, or similar solar design software is a plus. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in the solar or renewable energy industry. Familiarity with utility interconnection requirements.
