A Surveying or Mapping Technician works with surveyors and cartographers to gather data and create maps. Visits sites and records survey measurements and descriptive data. Selects data needed to create maps, including photos, aerial photos and satellite information, and helps produce and update maps that show boundaries or topographical information.

  • Perform QA/QC reviews on survey deliverables and legal descriptions
  • Review plats and survey documentation for compliance with IDOT standards
  • Validate survey data and ensure accuracy of deliverables
  • Review survey drawing files and supporting documentation when necessary

  • 5+ years of progressive surveying experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of survey principles, boundaries, and legal descriptions
  • Experience preparing or reviewing plats and survey documentation
  • Ability to confidently discuss surveying work and provide examples during interviews
  • Comfortable working full-time on-site in Schaumburg
  • DOT experience from any state
  • MicroStation/Bentley experience (CAD)
  • Prior QA/QC review experience
  • Mix of field and office surveying experience
