Job Description

Overview We are seeking a full-time Cartography Technician Intern at our office in Yarmouth, Maine. In this role, you will be responsible for the creation, edition, evaluation, and maintenance of cartographic data for use in Garmin products, in compliance with established methodology and processes. Essential Functions Works under close supervision of supervisor or mentor, following specific, detailed instructions Creates, edits and/or maintains cartographic data using Garmin-proprietary and/or third-party software Completes well-defined basic cartography tasks Identifies and resolves simple issues using proper cartography techniques Submits work for peer review to ensure product integrity, acts on feedback Communicates status of work clearly to supervisor or mentor Participates in cartographic data evaluation, processing and verification using established methodology Demonstrates drive to develop product and process enhancements on features and settings on assigned tasks Basic Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Geosciences or other related field Basic working knowledge and understanding of digital cartographic principles relevant to Garmin's business needs Proficient computer skills and familiarity with PC applications in a Windows environment Ability to learn/understand established processes/tools and apply them to daily tasks Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal/technical communication skills Able to document work thoroughly/in an organized manner Enthusiastic attitude with a strong sense of commitment, accountability and urgency Able to work collaboratively in a team environment to achieve goals Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Understanding of Garmin's Cartography Development Process Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
