Pioneer Land Surveying is a small local company, based in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina. We hold ourselves to a high standard of quality, accuracy, and ethics - both in the office and in the field. We are currently experiencing rapid growth in our business and looking to expand our team. This is a great Entry Level opportunity for recent High School/University graduates or other individuals interested in working outdoors in the beautiful western NC mountains. Our Work:

We are key part of the residential construction industry, enabling all aspects of the construction process. Before any concrete can be poured or walls can be built, it takes a skilled survey team to accurately locate the new building on site - that's where we come in. We process drawing files received from clients, create data points for every corner of the new build, and then our Field team takes that data onto the job site to drive stakes or nails exactly where the corners will be built. In addition to that, we also provide boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and site planning services for our clients. For a boundary survey, we verify and mark property lines, create new subdivisions of land, and establish exactly where the property begins and ends. For topographic surveys, we use GPS equipment to measure the elevations of the land, create contour lines on the map to show how steep it is, and map out all the trees in the area. Both of these types of surveys help our clients better understand their property and what they can use it for.

Responsibilities:

Follow instructions from a Crew Chief to conduct various types of surveys, such as Construction Stakeouts, Boundary Surveys, and Topographic Surveys. Safely operate and maintain GPS equipment, robotic instruments, traditional surveying tools, and company vehicles. Assist with data collection, analysis, and communication on survey projects. Collaborate with the survey team to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects. Perform moderate lifting, clearing/chopping wooded areas, and maintaining survey inventory as required for fieldwork.

Skills:

Ability to work well with a small team - accepting instructions with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to work outside and traverse on mountainous & wooded terrain, sometimes in inclement weather. The following skills are a plus, but not required: Knowledge & experience in land surveying principles and techniques. CAD software (Carlson or AutoCAD) experience for drafting and mapping. Individuals with higher experience and skill levels may transition to Crew Chief roles as capacity increases, and leadership qualities are exhibited. Valid driver's license required. This is a Full Time Position generally requiring a 40 +/- week. Usually, Monday-Friday.
