Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Office Surveyor / Survey CAD Technician to join our dynamic surveying team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting field survey operations through precise data collection, drafting, and technical analysis using advanced CAD software and surveying equipment. Your expertise will help ensure accurate land and construction surveys, facilitate project planning, and contribute to successful project delivery. Responsibilities Prepare detailed survey drawings and schematics using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, and Carlson. Assist in the planning and execution of construction layout surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and legal descriptions. Operate surveying equipment including total stations, GPS/GNSS systems like Trimble GNSS, and 3D laser scanners (LiDAR) for accurate data collection in the field. Support field survey teams by analyzing collected data, performing calculations involving trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and math principles to ensure precision. Conduct utility locating activities to identify underground utilities and prevent conflicts during construction projects. Manage survey data using GIS tools such as ArcGIS for spatial analysis and mapping purposes. Assist with drafting land survey plans, schematics, construction staking layouts, and topographic maps based on field data. Collaborate with project managers to prepare reports detailing survey findings, legal descriptions, and technical specifications. Operate hand tools and surveying equipment safely while adhering to industry safety standards; support heavy lifting when necessary during field activities. Skills Strong knowledge of land surveying principles including construction layout surveys, topographic mapping, and legal descriptions. Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation) for drafting and designing survey drawings. Experience with GPS surveying systems (including Trimble GNSS), total stations (total stations), laser scanners (LiDAR), and related surveying equipment operation. Familiarity with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS for spatial data analysis and mapping tasks. Ability to perform complex calculations involving trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and math fundamentals essential for accurate survey measurements. Knowledge of utility locating techniques to identify underground infrastructure safely. Understanding of construction staking procedures and schematics development for project execution. Excellent data collection skills with attention to detail; capable of analyzing large datasets accurately. Ability to interpret technical schematics and drawings; experience with drafting CAD plans is highly desirable. Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members and preparing comprehensive reports. Physical capability for fieldwork including heavy lifting; comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions.
