We're looking for an Entry-Level Field Survey Technician who wants to learn the profession from the ground up. This is a great opportunity for a college student or recent graduate in Geography, GIS, Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field who wants a career that combines technology, problem-solving, and the outdoors. No previous surveying experience is required. We're looking for someone dependable, technically inclined, comfortable working outside, and ready to learn. What You'll Do
- Work as part of a field survey crew performing boundary, topographic, utility, construction, and engineering surveys
- Operate
GPS/GNSS
receivers, robotic total stations, data collectors, and other modern surveying equipment
- Set and recover survey control, property corners, benchmarks, and construction layout points
- Collect accurate field measurements and document existing site conditions
- Assist with utility investigations and subsurface utility engineering (SUE)
- Support UAV/drone, laser scanning, and digital reality-capture operations
- Maintain field notes, photographs, equipment, and project records
- Work alongside professional land surveyors, engineers, GIS professionals, and experienced field personnel
- Travel to project sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic and occasionally nationwide What You Bring
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Recent graduates and current students nearing completion of their degree are encouraged to apply
- Willingness to travel and stay overnight for project assignments
- No previous professional surveying experience required
- Interest in surveying, mapping, GIS, engineering, construction, or geospatial technology
- Familiarity with GIS, GPS/GNSS, mapping, CAD, or other geospatial technologies is a plus
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather, terrain, and site conditions
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a field crew
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
