Our teams partner with developers to organize the records, agreements, and data that help projects move forward. We believe strong execution starts with clean information and steady communication. Land Technicians play an important role in that work by turning lease files, title records, tract data, and project updates into reliable information the broader team can use. At Halo, accuracy is not simply an administrative task it helps Landmen, Abstractors, GIS, Legal, project leads, and clients make better-informed decisions. Role and Responsibilities As a Land Technician, you will support Halo's land teams by keeping lease, title, ownership, and tract records accurate, organized, and current. You will review source documents, compare ownership information, maintain trackers and spreadsheets, organize project files, and help prepare information for internal teams and client deliverables. You will regularly partner with Landmen, Abstractors, GIS, Legal, and project leads. Workloads may shift as project deadlines approach, so success requires the ability to manage multiple assignments without losing accuracy or visibility.
Your core responsibilities include:
Enter and maintain lease, ownership, tract, and related project data in spreadsheets, trackers, and land databases. Review lease terms, deeds, abstracts, title materials, legal land descriptions, and ownership information for accuracy and consistency. Track important dates, including lease terms, expirations, extensions, and related obligations. Organize lease files, deeds, exhibits, abstracts, title materials, and supporting documentation in shared digital systems. Identify missing, unclear, duplicate, or inconsistent information and communicate issues early so the appropriate team can resolve them. Support reporting, curative work, file preparation, and client-ready deliverables. Maintain clear digital folder structures, naming conventions, version control, and documentation standards across active projects. Provide timely updates when priorities, documentation issues, or deadlines could affect project progress. The quality of your work directly supports cleaner handoffs, fewer avoidable questions, stronger reporting, and better project execution. Day in the Life You start your day remotely by reviewing current priorities, project messages, and any upcoming deadlines. One project may need lease expiration dates verified before a report goes out, while another may require ownership information to be compared against title materials and tract records. You move between detailed independent work and coordination with others throughout the day. You may update a large Excel tracker, organize newly received documents, review a legal land description, or flag an ownership inconsistency for a Landman or Abstractor. Later, you connect with GIS, Legal, or a project lead to clarify an issue and make sure the right information reaches the right person. Some days are steady and documentation-focused. Others involve multiple requests tied to a project deadline. You keep your work organized, communicate changes early, and leave records in a condition that another team member can understand and use without having to reconstruct what happened. As you grow in the role, you take greater ownership of record quality, identify recurring documentation gaps, and help improve the processes used to keep project information accurate and accessible. Who You Are You are someone who takes pride in accurate work and can bring structure to large amounts of detailed information. You are comfortable working independently in a remote environment, but you also know when to ask a question, flag a discrepancy, or involve another team member. You bring 1+ years of relevant experience in land, title, legal support, lease administration, records, or similar work, with the ability to independently handle routine record updates and documentation tasks. You have working knowledge of leases, deeds, abstracts, title materials, ownership records, or legal land descriptions. You are comfortable using Excel to organize, review, and maintain large spreadsheets or datasets. You can manage several assignments and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, organization, and clear follow-through. You are comfortable working in shared drives, digital document systems, trackers, databases, and spreadsheet-based workflows. Experience with oil and gas, renewable energy, infrastructure, land software, GIS-supported tract materials, document management systems, or curative support is helpful but not required. AAPL membership is also valued. We Offer At Halo, you will have the opportunity to build deeper knowledge of land operations while contributing to active energy and infrastructure projects. A remote work environment with regular connection to project teams. Exposure to lease, title, tract, curative, and project-support workflows. Opportunities to strengthen land operations, documentation, and data-management skills. Increasing ownership as you build confidence with Halo's tools, records, and processes. A team environment that values accuracy, reliability, timely communication, and dependable support.
