Job Overview Small land surveying firm seeks a detail-oriented and energetic Survey CAD Technician to join our dynamic surveying team. In this role, you will be instrumental in translating field survey data into precise, detailed CAD drawings and models that support a wide range of civil engineering, land development, and construction projects. Your expertise will help ensure accuracy in topographic surveys, construction layouts, ALTA surveys, and legal descriptions, contributing to successful project execution from start to finish. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge surveying technologies and software while playing a vital role in delivering high-quality mapping and drafting services. Duties Research and prepare upcoming projects for the field work portion of projects. Convert raw field survey data into accurate CAD drawings using Carlson software. Prepare ortho photos using DJI Terra. Prepare detailed schematics, construction staking plans, and topographic maps based on survey data collected in the field. Skills Strong understanding of trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and math principles essential for accurate calculations and spatial analysis. Proficiency in CAD software including Carlson for drafting and modeling purposes. Experience with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS for data analysis and mapping applications. Knowledge of surveying techniques including GPS surveying, total station operation, land surveying practices, field surveying procedures, and construction layout surveys. Familiarity with LiDAR technology for 3D scanning and data collection; ability to process point cloud data effectively or willing to learn. Ability to interpret schematics, technical drawings, legal descriptions, and construction plans accurately. Skills in data analysis to verify survey accuracy; experience with GIS data management is a plus. Physical ability to perform some site visits when necessary Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects efficiently.
