Responsible for generating electronic data files in support of construction layout. This technician will process field survey data, build 3D construction and machine control models and perform earthwork takeoffs. They bridge the gap between office engineering designs and field operations in civil construction, utility projects, and land surveying. Core Responsibilities 3
D Modeling:
Convert 2D blueprints, CAD files, or PDF plans into intelligent 3D surface models for GPS-guided heavy machinery.
Data Preparation:
Process raw GNSS, total station, and point cloud data collected by field survey crews.
Quantity Takeoffs:
Calculate precise earthwork volumes, cut-and-fill maps, and material quantities for bids and project tracking.
Quality Control:
Resolve design discrepancies and sync updated data files between the office and field positioning hardware.
Key Skills and Qualification Software Proficiency:
Strong working knowledge of Trimble Business Center, often paired with AutoCAD Civil 3D, AGTEK, or GIS applications.
Technical Knowledge:
Understanding of surveying principles, coordinate systems, grading, and site utility construction.
Problem Solving:
Ability to interpret complex civil engineering plans and troubleshoot field data sync errors
Communication:
Ability to communicate and interface with others Ability to work in a team environment is essential
