Job Description

Survey Technician We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Survey Technician to join our growing surveying team. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with a Licensed Surveyor on a wide range of boundary, topographic, subdivision, transportation, construction, and
ALTA/NSPS
survey projects utilizing the latest surveying technology and software. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in survey computations, CAD drafting, land records research, and quality control procedures, while also demonstrating strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities Participate in all phases of land surveying projects from research through final plat preparation Analyze survey field data collected by survey crews to ensure compliance with project requirements and State regulations Research, review, and interpret deeds, plats, easements, legal descriptions, and other land records Prepare project folders and supporting documentation for field crew briefings Perform survey computations, traverse adjustments, coordinate geometry calculations, and datum translations Compile and process field data using Carlson Survey, Civil 3D, or similar CAD software Prepare and draft: Boundary surveys Topographic surveys Subdivision plats Drainfield plats Physical surveys Construction stakeout data
ALTA/NSPS
surveys Analyze construction plans, drawings, and field data to verify accuracy and completeness Ensure compliance with applicable surveying standards and regulations, including Virginia Board requirements Maintain quality control standards and support implementation of safety protocols Mentor junior staff and assist with professional development initiatives Communicate effectively with survey crews, project managers, engineers, and clients Qualifications Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, Technical degree, or High School diploma/equivalent Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible land surveying experience preferred Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure is a plus Proficiency with CAD drafting and survey software, preferably Carlson Survey and/or Civil 3D Strong understanding of coordinate files, raw data processing, traverse adjustments, and datum conversions Familiarity with survey calculations, unit conversions, and proper use of significant figures Ability to independently manage projects with minimal supervision Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Employment is contingent upon proof of authorization to work in the United States Preferred Skills Boundary analysis and deed research Quality control and compliance review Construction survey support Knowledge of Virginia surveying regulations and standards Experience working with modern survey equipment and data collection systems Benefits We offer an excellent compensation and benefits package designed to support employee well-being, work-life balance, and professional growth, including: Competitive salary Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plan with employer contributions Paid time off and eight paid holidays Professional development and mentorship opportunities Supportive and collaborative work environment Opportunities for advancement and long-term career growth
