A Surveying or Mapping Technician works with surveyors and cartographers to gather data and create maps. Visits sites and records survey measurements and descriptive data. Selects data needed to create maps, including photos, aerial photos and satellite information, and helps produce and update maps that show boundaries or topographical information.

Produce and review national and international Foundation Data supporting map and chart production at various scales. Analyze and evaluate Foundation Data for quality assurance, including coverage, accuracy, currency, completeness, and applicability to mission and data requirements. Participate in technical exchanges with Government and partner personnel at Government facilities, partner locations, and virtual collaboration environments worldwide. Support Foundation Data production by developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), creating training guides, documenting best practices, and training team members. Ensure a current and accurate International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) exemption is maintained for all requested support involving partner interactions.
Basic Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree and/or 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Master's degree with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience. Minimum 5 combined points experience points as defined by the customer. 1-3 years demonstrated experience performing data extraction and Imagery analysis using ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro/MAXAR. 1-3 years demonstrated experience completing timely and accurate foundation data reviews. 1-3 years demonstrated experience performing foundation data quality control / quality assurance analysis using
GAIT/QAC
software program. Demonstrated experience understanding of and application of foundation data methodologies. Demonstrated experience to produce foundation data products. Previous experience in Nautical Maritime domains.
Preferred Qualifications:
A high degree of professional proficiency in Spanish to effectively communicate and document in an operational environment. Proficiency in common the Technical Reference Document TRDv.4.x and UTRDV.1.x. Demonstrated experience to communicate with clarity and accuracy both verbally and written (including virtually environments). Data extraction in support of crisis operations, geospatial Digital Twin, or Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML). Familiarity with emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, tools, and methodologies, with an understanding of their applications, implications, and integration into daily geospatial and intelligence workflows.
