Most of our surveyors find it a difficult yet extremely rewarding job. Surveyors ensure regulatory compliance of health care facilities and services in Alabama for both licensure and federal (Medicare and Medicaid) laws, rules, and regulations. Compliance decisions regarding health care facilities' participation in the Medicaid and Medicare Programs that directly impact residents' health and safety. Responsibilities Licensure and Certification surveyors conduct initial, recertification, follow up, and complaint inspections and surveys of licensed and certified providers in Alabama to determine compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations. Complaints are investigated against licensed and unlicensed facilities so that adequate information is obtained to allow a logical determination of the validity of all allegations. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in related fields of Nursing, Social Work, Nutrition/Dietetics, Therapeutic Recreation, Criminal Justice, Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science, and Health Services Administration is an accepted qualification for applicants. Special requirements, such as licensing, certification, years of experience or direct patient care in the prescribed field are included. OR An Associate's degree with additional years of professional experience is also acceptable.
