In this role, you'll visit homes to evaluate their compatibility with solar panel systems, HVAC upgrades, and water heating upgrades, and document your findings to guide our installation and sales teams. This is a hands-on, field-based position ideal for someone who's comfortable working independently, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in accurate, thorough work. What You'll Do Travel to residential properties in and around Sylmar to perform on-site surveys ahead of scheduled solar, HVAC, and water heater installations Assess roof condition, orientation, shading, and structural suitability for solar panel installations Inspect existing HVAC systems, ductwork, electrical panels, and wiring to determine upgrade compatibility and code compliance Evaluate water heater setup (tank/tankless, gas/electric, venting, and plumbing connections) for replacement or upgrade feasibility Take precise measurements, photos, and notes using a tablet or mobile survey app Identify potential obstacles (permitting issues, structural concerns, access limitations) that could affect installation Communicate findings clearly to homeowners and answer basic questions about the survey process Prepare detailed survey reports and upload documentation same-day for the design and installation teams Coordinate scheduling with the office to manage an efficient daily route across multiple homes Maintain a professional, courteous presence when interacting with homeowners What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in construction, electrical, HVAC, or a related trade is a plus Prior experience in home inspection, construction, solar, HVAC, or plumbing/water heating preferred, but we're open to training the right candidate Comfortable working at heights and accessing roofs, attics, and crawlspaces Basic understanding of residential electrical, HVAC, and water heater systems (or willingness to learn) Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation habits Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for survey software, photos, and reporting Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to work independently, manage a daily schedule, and communicate professionally with homeowners Physical ability to climb ladders, walk roofs, and carry survey equipment (up to 40 lbs) Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus What We Offer Starting rate $25-$30/hour, depending on experience Company vehicle provided, or mileage reimbursement for local travel Health, dental, and vision, and life insurance options 401k and matching options Paid time off and holidays Tools, equipment, and ongoing training provided Opportunity to grow with a company at the forefront of home energy efficiency How to Apply Interested candidates should submit a resume.
