A Surveyor measures the surface of the Earth and collects data used to make maps, set boundaries, and determine the shape and contour of sections of land. Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

Job Description

The County of Yuba is seeking a County Surveyor to join its Community Development and Services Agency (CDSA). This technical expert will provide professional land surveying expertise for the County, sharing their insights with the Board of Supervisors, County departments, and special districts. They will oversee matters involving property boundaries, right of ways and street locations, and other entitlements while reviewing all maps and records for County/State compliance. The ideal candidate will have a customer-service mentality and an eagerness to build positive working relationships. They will have exemplary planning and organization skills. The County is looking for a creative problem solver who will present alternative solutions and ideas, who can break down complex processes into simple terms, use logic and reasoning, and is highly collaborative.
