A Surveyor measures the surface of the Earth and collects data used to make maps, set boundaries, and determine the shape and contour of sections of land. Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

Hourly salary based on IUOE Local 12 rate in effect at time of hiring Office Locations Rancho Cucamonga, CA San Diego, CA Minimum Requirements Completion of high school education or GED. Mathematics proficiency, including trigonometry and geometry. Must be in "good standing" with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 12. Possession of a valid driver's license (Class C) and a satisfactory background driving clearance. Must have and maintain a physical condition necessary for walking over uneven surfaces; standing for extended periods of time; some stooping, crawling, crouching, and hiking; some lifting and carrying of equipment; audiovisual acuity; and manual and physical dexterity. An ideal Candidate will also have any or all of the following: A California LSIT or EIT certification. At least two (2) years of experience as a Chainperson/Rodperson and/or a Survey Apprentice. Applicable experience related to any or all of the following aspects of geomatics engineering: Geodetic control surveys; Technical principles of boundary determinations, sectionalized land subdivisions, ALTA surveys, and right-of-way surveys/engineering; Construction surveys; Topographic surveys; Public utility overhead and underground surveys; Terrestrial LiDAR technologies; and Aerial photogrammetric and LiDAR surveys. Solid technical understanding of the uses and capabilities of modern surveying instruments.
