Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

Job Description

We are partnered with a well-established and growing land surveying firm in Fort Lauderdale that is seeking a Survey Party Chief to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a smaller, employee-focused organization that has secured a strong backlog of work extending more than three years , including participation in a multi-million dollar project in Miami . The firm's workload spans a diverse mix of transportation, commercial, municipal, and infrastructure projects, providing long-term stability, variety, and career growth for the right candidate. The Survey Party Chief will be responsible for: Leading field survey crews on a variety of boundary, topographic, construction staking, and as-built surveys. Coordinating daily field activities to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. Operating and maintaining survey equipment including total stations, GPS/GNSS, and data collectors. Reviewing field data and ensuring accuracy and completeness prior to office handoff. Communicating effectively with project managers, clients, contractors, and project stakeholders. Training and mentoring junior field personnel while promoting best practices and safety standards. Maintaining detailed field notes, records, and documentation throughout project execution. The Survey Party Chief should have the following qualifications: 5+ years of field surveying experience, preferably in a Party Chief or crew leadership role. Strong background in traditional land surveying methods and field procedures. Experience performing boundary, topographic, route, and construction surveys. Proficiency with modern surveying equipment and data collection technology. Ability to read and interpret survey plats, construction plans, and legal descriptions. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
