Survey Party Chief Location:
Polk County, FL Join a growing road and bridge construction team as a Survey Party Chief supporting FDOT transportation projects throughout Polk County. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing field survey operations, ensuring accurate layout and construction staking, and coordinating with project managers, engineers, and field crews to keep projects on schedule. Responsibilities Lead daily field survey operations for road and bridge construction projects Perform construction layout, staking, and topographic surveys Interpret engineering plans, specifications, and design drawings Operate GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, and other surveying equipment Verify survey accuracy and maintain detailed field notes and documentation Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and construction crews Ensure survey activities meet FDOT standards and project specifications Train and supervise survey crew members while maintaining a safe work environment Qualifications Experience as a Survey Party Chief or Survey Crew Chief in heavy civil or transportation construction Knowledge of FDOT roadway and bridge construction practices preferred Proficiency with GPS, total stations, and survey data collection software Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction plans Strong leadership, communication, and problem solving skills Valid Florida driver's license required to operate company vehicles. Driving record will be reviewed. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to project sites as needed Preferred Experience on FDOT road and bridge projects Knowledge of machine control and digital survey technologies OSHA Safety Training This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic transportation construction team working on impactful infrastructure projects throughout Polk County.
