A Surveyor measures the surface of the Earth and collects data used to make maps, set boundaries, and determine the shape and contour of sections of land. Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.
Brockman Site Development is seeking an experienced CAD Technician to support our survey and construction teams. This position will prepare and maintain accurate drawings, models, and construction data for commercial and residential site-development projects throughout Central Florida. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and comfortable working with field crews, survey personnel, project managers, and estimators in a fast-paced construction environment. Responsibilities Prepare and revise civil site drawings, grading plans, utility layouts, as-built drawings, exhibits, and related construction documents. Import, organize, and process survey and field data. Create and update surfaces, contours, alignments, profiles, cross-sections, and other site-development information. Support construction layout, stakeout, and field data-preparation needs. Review plans and field information for accuracy, completeness, and conflicts. Coordinate drawing revisions and project information with survey crews, project managers, estimators, and field operations. Maintain organized CAD files, drawing standards, and project records. Assist with quantity calculations and other project-support tasks as needed. Qualifications Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D or Carlson for civil construction, land development, surveying, or a closely related field. Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans, survey data, grades, elevations, and utility information. Working knowledge of surfaces, contours, alignments, profiles, and coordinate systems. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work. Good organization, time-management, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines. Experience with Trimble Business Center, GPS data, robotic total-station data, or construction models is preferred. Previous site-development, underground-utility, or heavy-civil experience is preferred. A degree or technical certification in drafting, CAD, surveying, civil engineering technology, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
