What they do

A Surveyor measures the surface of the Earth and collects data used to make maps, set boundaries, and determine the shape and contour of sections of land. Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

Job Description

Responsibilities:
You'll work across surveying, civil CAD, construction, and development — including: Creating and modifying civil/site drawings in AutoCAD Translating field measurements into accurate CAD drawings Assisting with site plans, grading concepts, utilities, drainage, and development layouts Reviewing surveys, plats, plans, easements, and property information Visiting properties and construction sites to document existing conditions Performing measurements and field verification Supporting preconstruction and estimating activities Assisting with residential development feasibility Creating exhibits and plans for potential development opportunities Working with contractors, engineers, architects, surveyors, municipalities, and property owners Assisting with as-builts and construction documentation Using technology such as GPS/GNSS, laser measuring equipment, mapping software, and potentially drones
Qualifications:
Required:
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Ability to read civil/site plans
  • Understanding of basic civil/site development concepts
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to periodically work in the field
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work independently
Preferred:
  • AutoCAD
  • Surveying experience
  • Civil engineering experience
  • Construction experience
  • Residential development experience
GPS/GNSS
experience
  • Drone experience
  • FAA Part 107
  • GIS/mapping experience
  • Surveying/civil engineering degree
  • Progress toward PLS licensure
  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor You do NOT have to be a licensed surveyor to apply.

What We Really Need:
AutoCAD experience is the biggest priority. We're particularly interested in candidates with experience in: Civil/site plans Civil 3D Grading Drainage Utilities Topography Land development Survey drafting Construction drawings Residential development You don't have to check every box. If you're technically strong, understand drawings, learn quickly, and want to expand your skills, we want to talk to you.

Do you have experience with drones? Even better. Experience with aerial photography, site mapping, construction progress documentation, or drone surveying is highly desirable.
