Job Description
at Department of Transportation in Springfield, Illinois, United States Job Description Essential Functions Performs complex right-of-way design activities as necessary for the preparation of plans, plats,and legal descriptions and related documents necessary for the acquisition of right-of-way. Reviews the right-of-way documents prepared by staff and consulting engineering firms retained by the Illinois Department of Transportation ( IDOT ). Completes research of ownership and title records and maintains an index and permanent storage systems on the personal computer of accumulated data and historical files. Furnishes the Survey Unit with necessary coordinates to accomplish surveys and to furnish coordinates and staking plans to consultants as required. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Current registration as a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in Illinois PLUS four years of experience in the practice of land surveying. Preferred Qualifications Ability to keep harmonious relationships with co-workers. Working knowledge of the principles and practices of land and boundary surveying. Ability to interpret complex legal descriptions of land from title reports and determines the location of the property. Skill in the use of surveying field and office instruments. Ability to prepare right-of-way plats and plans using Computer Aided Design and Drafting ( CADD ) workstations. Conditions of Employment Requires successful completion of a background check. Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor ( OEIG ) or may be subject to a fine.
