Job Title:
Survey Technician Job Description The role involves working within a comprehensive land development team that covers various disciplines such as civil engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, planning, and utility engineering. The surveying department is led by experienced managers overseeing specific divisions. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong foundation in surveying, particularly those who transition from fieldwork to office-based computations. Responsibilities Read and interpret plans to assist in house location surveys, ensuring all improvements and property markers are accurately depicted. Perform mathematical computations to process field data and determine precise positions of survey points, including traverse and stakeout computations. Create and maintain cut sheets to compile and organize survey data effectively. Utilize AutoCAD, particularly Civil 3D and AutoCAD Land Development Desktop (LDD), for survey computations and CADD work. Essential Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD with a strong preference for Civil 3D. 3-5 years of experience in property surveying or managing large plots of land. Experience in conducting boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and stakeouts. At least 3 years of experience working with Total Station equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Certifications or training related to surveying are advantageous. Experience with Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) is beneficial. Familiarity with working in Prince George's and/or Montgomery County is highly preferred. Capability to lead survey crews of up to three individuals. Work Environment The company has a long-standing history of over 50 years, focusing on residential and small commercial projects primarily in Montgomery County. The workday starts at 6 am and ends at 2 pm. The company offers a 5% yearly bonus and covers 90% of health benefits upon permanent employment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burtonsville, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $37.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
