A Surveyor measures the surface of the Earth and collects data used to make maps, set boundaries, and determine the shape and contour of sections of land. Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

We're growing, and we're looking for a Crew Chief who takes pride in clean data, organized equipment, and doing things right the first time. The Role The Crew Chief leads survey technicians in the field and often runs a one-person robotic or GPS operation. You'll be responsible for the quality and efficiency of field data collection, the condition and organization of your vehicle and equipment, and clear communication with office staff. You're also the face of Ark in the field, both to our clients and to the public. Essential Duties Lead a team of survey technicians, managing time and tasks to keep field operations efficient. Run solo robotic total station or GPS operations when the project calls for it. Collect and document field data with the care and organization office staff need to produce accurate deliverables. Maintain your vehicle and equipment to a professional, workmanlike standard. Represent Ark with professionalism and respect on client sites and with the public. Work in all weather conditions that permit safe crew operations. Qualifications 5+ years of survey field experience. Solid working knowledge of data collector software, preferably Carlson SurvCE or SurvPC. Punctuality, dependability, and a track record of showing up ready to work. Valid North Carolina driver's license. Successful completion of a background check and drug screening. Even Better 5+ years of prior Crew Chief experience. Pay:
$28.00 - $36.00 per hour
