A Surveyor measures the surface of the Earth and collects data used to make maps, set boundaries, and determine the shape and contour of sections of land. Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

Position Summary The Survey Crew Chief will lead an assigned field survey crew, overseeing daily activities including preliminary, location, construction, property, control, topographic, and other engineering surveys. This position will be based in our Warren, NJ office. Responsibilities Perform assignments designed to develop professional plans requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Mange field survey crew members. Experienced operating Robotic Total Station and Leica software. Responsible for daily operations of a survey crew. Performing calculations for layouts. Experience with field equipment, including Robotic survey equipment, Leica software, Leica GPS preferred but will accept other equipment experience. Perform control surveys, topographic surveys, and asbuilt surveys. Data collection and GPS field data processing experience a plus. Experience with office software such as Microsoft Office Suite ( Excel, Word) and Adobe Comfortable moving data files in a network environment. Responsible for survey vehicle and survey vehicle maintenance. Qualifications and Requirements 5 years experience managing a survey crew. Experience in mapping and agency experience projects a plus Excellent communication skills Minimum high school diploma Capable of completing math calculations Must be flexible to work both day and night shifts, including extended hours and varying schedules, to meet project deadlines and field conditions. Valid clean driver's license.
