Crew Chief/ Sr. Crew Chief Square Root Services, LLC is hiring! We are seeking to fill a full-time position for a Survey Crew Chief or Sr. Crew Chief. This position is in Hobbs, NM. SRS offers a competitive pay and benefits package. Overview The position of Crew Chief will oversee all aspects of field survey operations, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and according to specifications. This position will complete a wide variety of survey and staking services for our clients in the areas of residential, industrial, commercial, and municipal development. This role involves both fieldwork and administrative tasks, requiring strong leadership, technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and mentoring junior team members. Key Responsibilities Responsible for construction staking, as-built measurement for record drawing production, topographic, mapping, pipeline and well location, design surveying, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, and flood elevations. Maintain, transport, and operate the instruments and equipment associated with surveying and prepare the job site for survey.
Client Communication:
Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing updates on project progress, addressing concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction. Participate in client meetings, offering technical expertise and insights. Establish and maintain internal and external communication with engineers, contractors, inspectors, property owners, and the public. Prepare accurate, detailed field notes and reports of daily activity in a timely manner. Electronically transfer field data files, photos and associated forms to office team daily. Perform in-field calculations for construction stakeout and various land surveys with moderate assistance from office support staff. Participate actively in meetings and adhere to regular attendance expectations. Adapt to flexible schedules, including potential overnight and weekend work, to meet project demands. Secures company assigned vehicles by parking at designated areas, following road regulations, performing vehicle maintenance as scheduled, maintains cleanliness of vehicle, reports any vehicle problem for repair and follow vehicle policies and procedures. Recognize and resolve discrepancies in construction plans and surveys. Perform field and office work. Prepares and updates oneself in acquiring licenses, certifications needed by the department. Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Mentor field survey staff to facilitate advancement. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include:
Minimum 3-year experience. Experience in Trimble
GPS R8, 10, 12I.
Robotic
S-5, S-7, SX10
Scanners, TSC-5, and TSC-7.
Physical Requirements:
Capable of moving objects 20-50 lbs. long distance (20 feet or more), with or without reasonable accommodation. Traverse distances up to a 1/2 mile at a time, up to 5+ miles per day. Bend or stoop repeatedly, make continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements, and remain in a standing position for extended periods of time. Work in varied job site conditions and in environments exposed to elements such as dirt, dust, sun heat, and humidity Read and understand plans, blueprints, and specifications. Knowledge of math, geometry, and trigonometry to perform calculations. Deadline and detail oriented. Thorough knowledge of survey equipment and data technologies. The ability to adapt to new equipment and technologies. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Successfully pass a background check and drug and alcohol screen.
