Job Title:

Land SurveyorJob Description The Land Surveyor will perform a wide range of field and office surveying tasks, including topographical and boundary surveys, utility surveys, and construction layout using GPS and modern surveying equipment. This role involves collecting and analyzing field data, interpreting engineering documents, and supporting drafting and design activities with Civil 3D and related software. It is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is interested in land surveying and wants to grow long-term within a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities

+ Perform topographical surveys, boundary surveys, utility surveys, and construction layout using GPS and traditional surveying methods.

+ Collect accurate field data using surveying equipment and software for preparation of survey drawings and reports.

+ Use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, and photographs to assess project needs and plan survey activities.

+ Set up, operate, and maintain surveying instruments and GPS equipment in the field.

+ Transfer collected field data into appropriate software for drafting and analysis.

+ Support the preparation of survey plats, drawings, and documentation in Civil 3D and other CAD tools.

+ Assist with drafting and survey-related design tasks based on collected data and project requirements.

+ Apply strong mathematical skills to perform measurements, calculations, and adjustments to ensure survey accuracy.

+ Work safely and effectively in outdoor environments, including harsh weather conditions, while adhering to site and safety protocols.

+ Participate in office-based CAD work when field work is not possible due to weather or other conditions.

+ Collaborate with project teams and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work culture. Essential Skills + 6 months to 3 years of experience in land surveying or closely related field work.

+ Demonstrated experience performing topographical surveys, boundary surveys, construction layouts, and utility surveys.

+ Proficiency with Civil 3D for drafting and survey-related design tasks.

+ Ability to use GPS and standard surveying equipment to collect precise field data.

+ Strong mathematical skills for measurements, calculations, and data analysis.

+ Preparedness and ability to work outdoors in varying and sometimes harsh weather conditions.

+ Interest in pursuing and growing a career in land surveying.

+ High school diploma and college degree (bachelor's level) or equivalent education.

+ Ability to interpret and work from maps, drawings, engineering plans, and related project documents. Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with drone survey techniques and related data collection is a plus.

+ Prior drafting experience in a civil or land surveying environment is beneficial.

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

+ Ability to work both independently in the field and collaboratively with office and project teams.

+ Willingness to grow with the firm over the long term and take on increasing responsibility.

Work Environment The workday typically runs from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with direct reporting to the jobsite for field assignments. The role involves extensive outdoor work, including exposure to varying and sometimes harsh weather conditions while performing surveys. When weather conditions prevent field work, time is spent in the office performing CAD and drafting tasks, primarily using Civil 3D and related software. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Armonk, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
