What they do

A Surveyor measures the surface of the Earth and collects data used to make maps, set boundaries, and determine the shape and contour of sections of land. Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

Work Model:
Hybrid - onsite and remote Responsibilities
  • Design and manage electric distribution projects for new and existing customers, including customer interaction, project management, field assessments, and system design using GE Smallworld (GIS).
  • Perform transformer sizing, underground cable routing, and pole placement.
  • Conduct field visits or computer-based design work, with weekly scheduling meetings and team touchpoints.
  • Collaborate within a hybrid work environment, balancing individual and team tasks, with a mix of office and field work.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed during field visits to residential, commercial, and construction sites. Requirements
  • Strong communication (verbal and written).
  • Organizational and project management skills.
  • Basic electrical knowledge or background.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • GIS or AutoCAD experience is a plus but not required.
  • People skills, desire to learn, adaptability, and independence.
  • No specific degree required; open to various backgrounds (construction, call center, police, etc.).
  • Experience in electrical or utility fields is a plus.
  • Certifications are not required.
