Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Survey Party Chief to lead field surveying operations and ensure precise data collection for the "Interstate 35 Expansion Project" in Buda Texas. As the key leader of the survey crew, you will coordinate field activities, operate advanced surveying equipment, and oversee the collection of topographic, boundary, and construction layout data. Duties Lead and supervise survey crews during field operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and accuracy in all activities Operate and maintain surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS systems (including Trimble GNSS), 3D scanners, LiDAR, and data collectors Perform construction layout surveys, land boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, and geodetic measurements with precision Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation) to process survey data and prepare detailed schematics and drawings Conduct utility locating using specialized tools to identify underground infrastructure before excavation or construction work begins Analyze survey data through data collection techniques, data analysis skills, and software like ArcGIS for mapping and spatial analysis Ensure all fieldwork complies with legal descriptions, land survey standards, and project specifications while maintaining accurate records of survey points and measurements Assist in drafting legal descriptions and creating construction staking plans based on surveyed data Operate heavy lifting equipment when necessary for setting up large instruments or transporting survey gear Experience Proven experience as a Survey Party Chief or senior survey technician with a strong background in land surveying practices Extensive knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and math principles relevant to precise measurements and calculations Hands-on experience with Total Stations, GPS/GNSS systems (including Trimble), 3D scanners, LiDAR technology, and microprocessor-based data collectors Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation; familiarity with Carlson software is a plus Skilled in utility locating techniques using specialized equipment to identify underground utilities safely Familiarity with construction layout surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and schematics preparation Strong understanding of legal land descriptions and the ability to interpret construction drawings and schematics accurately Ability to operate surveying equipment efficiently in various field conditions while adhering to safety standards Excellent data collection skills combined with analytical abilities for processing large datasets into usable maps or reports Physical capability for heavy lifting and extended outdoor work in diverse weather conditions Join our team to lead innovative surveying projects that shape the future of infrastructure development!
