Excavation Position Overview ASG Excavation, LLC is seeking an experienced Construction Surveyor with a strong background in excavationto join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience performing construction layout for excavation, grading, paving, and site development projects. This position requires someone who can accurately interpret construction plans, establish grades and elevations, perform field layout, and work closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and equipment operators to ensure work is completed according to project specifications. We are looking for someone who understands that accurate surveying and layout are critical to keeping excavation projects productive, preventing costly rework, and ensuring the field has the information needed to perform the work correctly. Responsibilities Perform construction staking and layout for earthwork excavation and civil construction projects. Establish and verify benchmarks, control points, elevations, grades, slopes, offsets, and coordinates. Provide layout for building pads, paving, curb, sidewalks, utilities, structures, drainage systems, detention areas, and other site improvements. Perform cut/fill and grade verification throughout construction. Read and interpret civil plans, grading plans, utility plans, profiles, details, and project specifications. Verify existing and proposed elevations before and during excavation activities. Perform as-built surveys and collect field data as required. Assist field crews with layout and grade-related questions. Identify potential conflicts or discrepancies between field conditions and construction plans. Communicate survey information clearly to superintendents, foremen, project managers, and equipment operators. Maintain accurate survey records, field notes, point files, and documentation. Properly maintain and care for surveying equipment. Coordinate with project management to prioritize survey needs and keep projects moving efficiently. Follow company and project safety requirements while working around excavation operations and heavy equipment. Qualifications Minimum 3 years experience in construction surveying experience in excavation, earthwork, site development. Strong understanding of grading, elevations, slopes, cut/fill, drainage, and excavation operations. Ability to read and understand civil construction plans and specifications. Experience with GPS, total stations, data collectors, and construction layout equipment. Experience creating 3D design models for excavation project preferred. Experience with Trimble, Topcon, and Leica. Experience working with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble Business Center software. Ability to independently calculate and verify elevations, grades, offsets, and layout information. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Must be Bilingual to communicate effectively with field personnel. Hold valid surveying license recognized by the State of Texas preferred Comfortable working outdoors in active construction environments and Texas weather conditions. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Ability to travel to project sites throughout the DFW area as needed. Bilingual.
