Work usually requires contact with governmental and/or private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Survey Spec. IV-in addition to the abovePerforms specialized surveying activities and provides technical expertise and advice on complex surveying projects under the supervision of a Registered Professional Land Surveyor or licensed Professional Engineer. Work requires travel. Work requires contact with governmental and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Essential Duties:
Survey Specialist II:
Coordinates and schedules work for photogrammetry and aerial mapping surveys.

Obtains, processes, and analyzes raw field survey data collected from electronic survey equipment and/or GPS.Operates survey instruments such as level, transit, theodolite, electronic distance meter, total survey station and data collector.

Performs deed researchUses a variety of surveying software and related hardware.

Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Survey Specialist III-in addition to the aboveMaintains and calibrates equipment.

Performs audits and quality control/quality assurance of projects.

Trains and instructs other survey personnel.

Provides guidance to contracted survey parties and monitors operations.

Survey Specialist IV-in addition to the aboveInstructs employees on the use of survey instruments such as level, transit, theodolite, electronic distance meter, total survey stations and data collector.

Coordinates daily operations of the survey section.
