DESCRIPTION
Team Fishel ,the Best Choice for Utility Engineering and Construction, is hiring an experienced Survey Instrument Operator for our Surveying & Engineering division in Hampton, VA, who is ready to advance their career through fast-paced, hands-on training to become a Survey Party Chief. Responsibilities Using GPS equipment to set control, property corner searches, topographic surveys and staking of easements and rights-of-way Occasional use of Total Station for the above Maintain equipment and supplies Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Valid driver's license required At least two years of experience using GPS equipment required This role is 100% field-based and requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Able to operate and train others in the use of survey equipment including conventional and electronic instruments and computers (hardware and software) Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions and able to lift and transport equipment & supplies over uneven terrain Possess good interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communication skills Overnight travel may be required Willingness to learn all aspects of surveying Preferred Qualifications Experience utilizing GPS equipment is preferred At least two years of experience using conventional survey equipment Experience reading & interpreting plats and deeds of record Experience recording detailed field notes & the ability to perform basic in-field calculations Starting pay is $27 - $28 / hour depending upon experience.
