Job Summary As part of Chartwells operations at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, we are adding a Sustainability Manager. As a Sustainability Manager, your primary responsibility is to develop, implement, and oversee sustainable practices and initiatives within the organization. You will work towards minimizing environmental impact, optimizing resource efficiency, and promoting socially responsible practices throughout the food service operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and implement initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of food service operations, such as waste reduction, energy conservation, and water efficiency. Evaluate and recommend sustainable sourcing practices for food and packaging materials. Oversee waste management programs, including recycling, composting, and reduction of single-use items. Implement strategies to minimize food waste within the operations. Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on sustainable practices and their role in achieving sustainability goals. Foster a culture of sustainability through ongoing communication and engagement initiatives. Engage with the local community to promote sustainable practices and build positive relationships. Participate in relevant community events and initiatives that align with the organization's sustainability goals. Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of sustainability initiatives. Regularly evaluate and adjust strategies based on performance metrics and industry advancements. Manage a team of sustainability interns to assist with student engagement planning,media relations, and environmental reporting.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Business, or related field. Proven experience in implementing sustainability programs, preferably in the food service industry. Strong understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability best practices. Excellent project management and communication skills. Good task management and organizational skills with an ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously. Good analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
