As a Sustainability and ESG Intern, you will contribute directly to our mission of building a carbon-neutral future. You will work at the intersection of environmental strategy, data, and communication. Your contributions will support ENGIE North America's sustainability goals and help drive meaningful progress across our operations. As a Sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Intern at ENGIE North America, you'll gain hands-on experience working with a global leader in sustainability. Based in Houston, you'll collaborate with site teams across North America to: Develop, update, and maintain Environmental and Societal Action Plans in alignment with ENGIE's policies
Identify and promote best management practices to enhance environmental and social performance
Assist ESG data collection, quality checks, reporting for internal dashboards, sustainability surveys, and disclosure-related requests
Support sustainability training, employee engagement initiatives, and communications that raise awareness and deepen understanding of sustainability topics
Help advance office sustainability initiatives, including recycling, waste reduction, employee engagement, and other efforts to improve workplace sustainability
Contribute to company-wide decarbonization initiatives that advance ENGIE's climate goals What You'll Bring Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in an undergraduate or graduate program in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, or a related field at an accredited college or university, with at least three years of relevant coursework
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Critical thinking skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Comfortable presenting ideas in group settings, contributing to collaborative discussions, and workshops
Naturally curious, adaptable, and eager to learn, with demonstrated integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
Basic understanding of ESG frameworks, corporate sustainability reporting, climate risk, and environmental compliance
Clear and effective communication skills, with strong writing and digital storytelling abilities related to sustainability topics Additional Details The internship term will run from September 2026 to December 2026. Please note that this role follows ENGIE's hybrid in-office work policy in our Houston, TX office requiring regular on-site presence-it is not eligible for remote work
Interns must be enrolled and in good standing at the commencement of the intern semester
Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation Hourly Range:
$25.50 USD hourly This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
