Training and Career Development Previous RF testing experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right candidate. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background or interest in electronics, electrical testing, engineering, or technical manufacturing who wants to develop specialized skills in RF and microwave technology. The selected candidate will receive hands-on training in: Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) operation VSWR and return-loss testing Insertion-loss measurement Phase-matching procedures RF and microwave cable-assembly testing Test-equipment calibration and verification Troubleshooting and failure analysis We are looking for someone who is dependable, mechanically and technically inclined, eager to learn, and interested in building a long-term career with our company. Job Purpose The RF Test Technician will support our manufacturing operations by testing, troubleshooting, and characterizing RF and microwave cable assemblies and connectors. The technician will execute established test procedures and generate accurate test data for internal use and customer documentation. With training, the technician will learn to set up, standardize, and calibrate RF test equipment; analyze test results; and assist with the repair or adjustment of cable assemblies. The primary measurements performed will include VSWR, insertion loss, and phase matching using a Vector Network Analyzer. Travel Requirement This position requires work at both company facilities. During the initial training and transition period, approximately 90% of the work will be performed in Connecticut and 10% in Bayport, New York. Within two years—or possibly sooner—the position will be based entirely in Bayport, New York. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel between facilities are required. Job Duties Conduct functional testing to measure the performance of RF cable assemblies and subassemblies. Set up and operate RF and electrical test equipment. Compare test results against specifications and accurately document test data. Assist with the analysis of defective units to determine the cause of failure. Perform basic troubleshooting and adjustments under the direction of experienced personnel. Help develop and improve testing processes, tooling, and fixtures. Ensure that test-equipment calibration requirements are maintained. Follow established quality procedures and work instructions. Manage time effectively and complete assignments as directed by the supervisor. Participate fully in company-provided technical and on-the-job training. Skills and Qualifications Pay will be based on experience. Candidates who do not meet every preferred qualification are still encouraged to apply, as comprehensive training will be provided. Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or technical school in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, electronics, or a related discipline is preferred but not required. Equivalent military or hands-on technical training will also be considered. Relevant manufacturing, electronics, mechanical, automotive, aviation, communications, or technical experience may be accepted in place of formal education. A basic understanding of electrical testing equipment, such as multimeters and oscilloscopes, is helpful. Experience with Vector Network Analyzers or RF testing is a plus but not required. RF testing experience up to 67 GHz is a plus. Strong mechanical or technical aptitude and an interest in troubleshooting are important. Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications are preferred. Experience with manufacturing workflows or MRP systems is helpful but not required. Ability to follow detailed procedures and accurately document results. Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Positive attitude, strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Export-Control Requirements All positions at Insulated Wire require access to information or technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and other United States government security regulations. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents (green-card holders), or otherwise legally authorized to access export-controlled information and technology.
