Senior Level Electrical Testing Technician Powre Tek Electrical Field Services Alvin, TX Job Details Full-time $55 - $60 an hour 2 days ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Life insurance Qualifications Customer communication Driver's License Full Job Description Overview Powre Tek Electrical Field Services, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Testing & Commissioning Technician to join our growing field service team. We are looking for a highly skilled technician with hands-on experience in low , medium, and high-voltage electrical systems who can independently perform testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and startup activities in industrial and utility environments. Responsibilities Perform electrical testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of low, medium, and high-voltage electrical equipment. Test, inspect, troubleshoot, and commission: Power transformers Low, medium, and high-voltage switchgear Circuit breakers (vacuum, SF6, air and molded-case) Protective relays Current transformers (CTs) Potential/voltage transformers (PTs/VTs) Instrument transformers Automatic transfer switches (ATS) Motor control centers (MCCs) Cables and bus systems Grounding systems Battery and DC systems Perform transformer testing including TTR, winding resistance, insulation resistance/power factor, excitation current, SFRA, and associated diagnostic testing. Perform breaker testing including contact resistance, insulation resistance, timing/travel analysis, primary injection, and secondary injection Perform protective relay testing, functional testing, and trip verification Troubleshoot electrical equipment, control circuits, wiring, and system operation Read and interpret one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, elementary diagrams, and manufacturer drawings Perform commissioning and startup verification of new and existing electrical systems Complete detailed field service reports and test documentation Follow
LOTO, NFPA
70E, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements Work directly with customers, engineers, contractors, and other field personnel Testing Equipment Experience Experience with equipment from manufacturers such as: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Vanguard Manta, Fluke, and Tettex 2293 Experience with test equipment used for: Transformer diagnostics Power factor testing TTR and winding resistance SFRA Primary current injection Secondary current injection Breaker timing and motion analysis Contact resistance/DLRO Insulation resistance Relay testing and calibration Cable testing Battery testing What We're Looking For 5+ years of electrical testing/commissioning experience preferred Strong low, medium, and high-voltage experience Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems independently Strong understanding of electrical theory and power distribution systems Experience with industrial substations, switchgear, transformers, and protective devices NETA experience or certification is a strong plus Ability to lead jobs and provide direction to junior technicians Strong documentation and customer communication skills Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability and willingness to travel as required Must be able to work outages, extended shifts, and occasional weekends as project schedules require Preferred Experience NETA Level III or
IV NICET NFPA 70E OSHA
