Our client, an established employee-owned engineering consulting firm is seeking a Transportation Design Engineer to join its growing transportation team. This position offers the opportunity to lead and deliver a variety of roadway and transportation infrastructure projects for state and local agencies while playing a key role in mentoring staff and supporting client relationships. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with UDOT projects , a strong background in roadway design, and advanced proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer . Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of transportation and roadway projects from planning through final design. Prepare engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports. Develop roadway alignments, intersection improvements, corridor designs, and related transportation infrastructure. Coordinate with clients, agencies, utility providers, and project stakeholders. Manage project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables. Review engineering calculations, design documents, and construction plans. Ensure compliance with UDOT standards, policies, and design requirements. Mentor junior engineers and support staff development. Participate in proposal development and client relationship management. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. 8+ years of transportation engineering experience. Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Strong experience working on UDOT transportation projects . Advanced proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer. Experience with roadway geometric design, plan production, and transportation project delivery. Strong understanding of UDOT standards, specifications, and permitting requirements. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Experience Project management experience on transportation infrastructure projects. Experience working with municipalities, counties, and public agencies throughout Utah. Familiarity with roadway drainage coordination, utility relocations, and construction administration. Proven ability to mentor engineering staff and lead technical teams.
