Job Description

Jacobs is seeking a Traffic Engineering Intern to join our Transportation team in Ft. Lauderdale, FL; working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team and be involved in a variety of engineering tasks for our DOT clients; aimed at improving traffic flow, safety, and infrastructure. The engineering intern experience at Jacobs will provide engineering students an opportunity to gain real-world experience in innovative solutions. Interns will work alongside world-class professionals in a fast-paced, professional setting which provides students invaluable experiences applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a business environment. The candidate would be exposed to tasks specific to engineering and planning.
Typical work tasks include:
Observe and collect field traffic data such as counts, signal timings etc. Analyze traffic data, summarize using charts and tables, and prepare briefings and reports. Perform engineering studies using software such as Synchro and VISSIM and other analysis tools Assemble data and conduct analysis using GIS. Support mid-level and senior staff members as needed. Candidate must be currently enrolled in at least their sophomore year working towards a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field. At least a 3.0 GPA is required. Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
