Responsible for using specialized software to create detailed drawings and plans for transportation projects; draft roadway alignments and profiles, intersection configurations, drainage plans, temporary traffic control plans, signing and pavement marking plans and other transportation infrastructure elements; ensure designs comply with relevant regulations, standards, and project specifications; collaborate with engineers and other team members to incorporate design changes and modifications as needed; calculate the quantities of materials needed for construction projects based on design drawings and specifications; estimate the amounts of asphalt, concrete, steel, and other materials required for road construction, traffic signal installations, and related infrastructure projects; generate accurate quantity takeoff reports for cost estimation, bidding purposes, and project planning; conduct field surveys and data collection exercises to gather information relevant to transportation engineering projects; use instruments such as GPS devices, traffic counters, and cameras to collect traffic volume, speed, and vehicle classification data; analyze collected data to identify traffic patterns, congestion hotspots, and other factors influencing transportation systems; conduct literature reviews and online research to gather information on best practices, regulations, and emerging technologies in transportation engineering; utilize OpenRoads Designer (ORD), MicroStation, AutoTURN, Microsoft Excel, and Bluebeam Revu to perform duties; investigate innovative solutions and methodologies to address transportation challenges, such as traffic congestion, safety concerns, and environmental impacts; evaluate the existing condition of transportation infrastructure, such as roadways, signage, and pedestrian facilities; observe traffic flow, pedestrian behavior, drainage conditions and other factors affecting transportation operations; record field observations and measurements for use in project planning, design, and analysis; support the development and implementation of traffic impact studies, corridor studies, and other traffic engineering analyses; collect and analyze traffic data to assess the potential impact of new developments, roadway improvements, or traffic control measures; assist in the preparation of technical reports summarizing study findings, recommendations, and conclusions; collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop detailed construction plans and specifications for transportation projects; generate plan sheets, cross-sections, profiles, and other technical drawings using CAD software; and ensure that plans comply with regulatory requirements, project standards, and client preferences.

Education:
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree);
Experience:
One (1) year in the position above, as an Associate Transportation Engineer, as a Civil Engineer, as an Engineering Intern, as a Graduate Research Assistant, or in a related occupation;
Other Requirements:
Experience must include one (1) years use of all the following: OpenRoads Designer (ORD), MicroStation, AutoTURN, Microsoft Excel, and Bluebeam Revu. Will also accept any suitable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
