Highway Engineer Position Summary:
The primary duties of the Highway Engineer are to serve in a technical role under the direction of the Highway Director in the designing, planning and construction of urban and rural highways, bridges and alternative transportation projects. Assists with developing and implementing traffic engineering studies as needed. Reviews and recommends approval of plans and specifications from developers, consulting engineers and utility companies. Assist Traffic Commission Board for requests for traffic signals and signage and making sure that the county is following the Indiana MUTCD. Assist department personnel and contractors on Maintenance of Traffic Plans for projects.Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicant must be a Registered Professional Engineer. Thorough knowledge of principles and accepted practices of engineering and road construction/maintenance. Knowledge of legal requirements and specifications of construction projects, with the ability to effectively review and approve project plans.Starting Salary:
