The Design Quality Assurance Bureau offers a unique opportunity to influence major transportation projects across New York State. In this role, you will help ensure the consistent application of Department policy, design standards, and project development procedures, directly impacting the safety and efficiency of the state's transportation network.
Qualifications:
Must possess a valid New York State Professional Engineer's (PE) license and current registration.
Key Responsibilities:
Become the Project Development Expert You will perform high-level technical and compliance reviews of design approval documents and other critical project deliverables. Your expertise will ensure that complex highway, bridge, and transit designs meet rigorous state and federal standards before construction begins. Collaborate and Problem-Solve You will serve as a key technical resource during project development. This involves coordinating closely with Regional Offices, Main Office functional groups, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to resolve complex technical or policy issues and facilitate project approvals. Influence Statewide Policy Help shape the standards of engineering across New York. You will assist in updating and maintaining critical departmental resources, including the NYSDOT Project Development Manual and the Highway Design Manual . Mentor and Share Expertise .Assist in the development and delivery of training programs on project development and design approval processes, helping to guide and support regional teams and junior engineering staff. Support Emergency Operations If needed, you will serve in a designated role within the Incident Command System to support the Department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
