Top Civil Construction Company in the Tri-State Area Fully Remote Work Opportunity About Our Client The Resident Engineer will serve as the primary technical lead and client representative, overseeing multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring compliance with NJDOT, PennDOT, FHWA, and local agency standards, and driving projects from conceptual development through final design and construction support. Job Description Key Responsibilities Lead the planning, design, and delivery of heavy civil transportation infrastructure projects. Serve as Engineer of Record for transportation design projects requiring professional engineering certification. Manage multidisciplinary teams including roadway, bridge, traffic, drainage, geotechnical, and utility design personnel. Oversee project development from feasibility studies and preliminary engineering through final design and bid package preparation. Ensure compliance with NJDOT, PennDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, FHWA, and applicable municipal design standards. Review and approve roadway geometry, traffic control plans, drainage systems, grading, signing and striping, and construction staging concepts. Coordinate with transportation agencies, municipalities, utility companies, transit authorities, and other stakeholders. Manage project schedules, budgets, scope, and resource allocation. Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and technical reports. Participate in client meetings, public presentations, agency coordination meetings, and technical workshops. Provide engineering support during bidding and construction phases, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and evaluating design modifications. Mentor and develop junior engineers, designers, and project staff. The Successful Applicant Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in either New Jersey or Pennsylvania . 10+ years of transportation engineering and heavy civil infrastructure design experience. Demonstrated experience leading NJDOT and/or PennDOT transportation design projects. Experience serving as Engineer of Record on transportation infrastructure projects.
Proficiency with:
MicroStation OpenRoads Designer AutoCAD Civil 3D Bluebeam Microsoft Office Suite Strong technical writing, communication, and client management skills.
