Job Description

Metric Engineering is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer with 5
  • 15+ years of post-registration experience to lead a variety of traffic engineering and transportation planning projects.
Preferred location is the Austin/San Antonio, Texas area. We are open to other areas within Texas as well. Responsibilities also include traffic operations analysis, simulation, and design for signal systems and other traffic management systems. The role requires the ability to produce clear, concise technical reports and may involve field work to support project needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Design:
Create plans and specifications for traffic signal systems, isolated signals, intersection improvements, and signing and marking projects.
Traffic Studies & Analysis:
Conduct traffic studies and operational analysis using VISSIM, Synchro, and other tools to assess traffic flow and signal operations. Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS): Apply systems engineering principles for the development and deployment of signal and other ATMS.
Traffic Signal Retiming:
Lead projects related to signal retiming, including the development, implementation, and optimization of timing plans for coordinated and isolated systems.
Field Work:
Perform field verifications of existing and proposed traffic control devices and make recommendations for improvements.
Technical Reports & Client Delivery:
Prepare traffic engineering reports, conceptual designs, and technical deliverables, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion.
Coordination:
Provide technical support and task management for multi-disciplinary transportation projects, collaborating with roadway, structures, environmental, and other teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering required. TX Professional Engineering (PE) license or able to obtain in 3

  • 15 + years of progressively responsible traffic operations experience Experience with Open Roads. Familiarity with traffic engineering principles, including HCM, MUTCD, ADA, and FHWA standards. Familiarity with Synchro, SimTraffic, and TRU
  • Traffic.
Strong technical writing and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
