Our continued growth and success have created an opportunity for an experienced Traffic Engineer at our growing Chicago office located in the President's Plaza. The successful candidate will join a highly respected traffic engineering team and serve as a technical and project leader. This role offers opportunities to manage projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, develop client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of a well-established practice. As a Traffic Engineer at GRAEF, enjoy responsibilities that include: Prepare and oversee traffic impact analysis studies, transportation planning studies, traffic signal design and timings, microsimulation and modeling services, roundabout feasibility studies, parking studies, and safety studies for public and private-sector clients. Manage traffic engineering projects, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, coordination, project delivery, and financial performance. Mentor and support the technical development of junior staff,through training, day-to-day guidance, and quality control reviews. Support proposal preparation, client development, and strategic business development pursuits, including identifying and helping secure new work. We are considering Traffic Engineer candidates to join our team who possess the following basic qualifications: B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in transportation or traffic engineering. Minimum of 5 years of relevant traffic engineering experience. Professional Engineer registration in Illinois. Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) and/or Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification is a plus. Project management experience is preferred, but we are also open to candidates who demonstrate leadership of technical tasks and a clear interest in developing into a project manager role. Demonstrated ability to work on multiplecomplex assignments and establish priorities. Proficiency with Highway Capacity Software (HCS), SYNCHRO / SimTraffic, including the ability to guide staff and review technical work. Experience with VISSIM, IHSDM and AutoCAD, is a plus but not required. Familiarity with traffic engineering guidelines, including: WisDOT, IDOT, ITE, FHWA, AASHTO, and MUTCD publications for preparation of traffic studies. Strong written and verbal communication, organization and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with public and private-sector clients, agency staff, peers, management, and project stakeholders. Experience supporting proposal preparation, client development, and business development efforts is preferred. Why GRAEF?
