We're growing our Rhode Island team and looking for a Transportation Engineer who is eager to take on new challenges, expand their technical expertise, and play an important role in delivering innovative transportation solutions throughout New England. Whether you're developing a roadway design, working through a drainage challenge, visiting a project site, or collaborating with another discipline, you'll have opportunities to learn, contribute, and make an impact from day one. At BETA, you'll collaborate closely with experienced engineers and project managers, receive hands-on mentorship, and gain exposure to all phases of transportation projects. As your skills and experience grow, you'll have opportunities to take on greater responsibility and advance into senior technical, project management, and leadership roles. You'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of transportation projects, including highway and roadway improvements, complete streets and multimodal transportation, intersection and corridor improvements, sidewalk and ADA improvements, stormwater and drainage, pavement design and rehabilitation, municipal and DOT projects, and construction administration and support.Responsibilities:
Assist with the planning, design, and delivery of transportation and roadway projects from concept through construction Prepare roadway and highway designs, including geometric design, grading, drainage, traffic control, ADA improvements, and pavement design Develop engineering plans, specifications, calculations, technical reports, and other project deliverables Apply applicable RIDOT, AASHTO, FHWA, MUTCD, and other local, state, and federal design standards Coordinate with engineers, designers, surveyors, environmental professionals, and other technical disciplines Support permitting, agency coordination, and regulatory requirements Participate in field investigations, site assessments, inspections, and data collection Provide technical support during bidding and construction and assist with resolving field and design issues Participate in QA/QC reviews to ensure accurate, complete, and high-quality deliverables Attend project meetings and assist with coordination among clients, municipalities, agencies, contractors, and project teams Work closely with Project Managers and senior engineers to develop solutions and successfully deliver projects Collaborate with BETA's New England offices to leverage regional expertise and resources Build technical and project management skills through hands-on experience, mentorship, and increasingly complex assignments Preferred location is BETA's Lincoln, RI office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.Growth Opportunities:

Required Experience/Skills:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related field 4 to 8+ years of related engineering experience in highway design, stormwater management, ADA compliance, and roadway construction practices EIT (Fundamentals of Engineering) Proficient with AutoCAD, Civil3D, and ArcGIS/Pro Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Experience with AASHTO, RIDOT/MassDOT/ConnDOT design standards, MUTCD Experience with RIDEM and CRMC permitting regulations Strong technical aptitude and an eagerness to learn Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow) Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportationPreferred Experience/Skills:
Experience with AutoCAD Storm and Sanitary & HydroCAD Professional Engineer (PE) License OSHA Certifications (OSHA 10-Construction, OSHA 40-HAZWOPER, OSHA Confined Space Entry, etc…)About BETA:
