Job Description
Senior Roadway Engineer STV, Inc. dental insurance, life insurance, vision insurance, parental leave, paid time off, paid holidays, 401(k) United States, Tennessee, Chattanooga Aug 28, 2026 STV is looking for a Full-Time Senior Roadway Engineer in either our Franklin or Chattanooga, TN locations. This role is ideal for an experienced roadway engineer who is ready to take on greater technical leadership, guide complex design efforts, support public-sector clients, and mentor early-career staff while contributing to high-visibility transportation programs. We are looking for a motivated individual who wants to be part of a successful, growing practice within a firm that values integrity, determination, drive, and rewards individuals accordingly. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact with clients on a regular basis and contribute to business development efforts.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide project management and professional design services for transportation improvement projects for municipal agencies, local governments, and TDOT. Manage design, provide senior-level functional designs, and provide QC for roadway geometry and details, drainage, work zone traffic control, pavement markings, and signing for transportation infrastructure. Interact with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams Coordinate design development and assisting with technical direction to other design staff Coordinate with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports Work with practice and office leadership, client development, business development and industry participation to advance your career and STV's growth. Facilitate and lead project meetings both within STV and with clients. Create, maintain, and monitor scopes, fees, schedules, staffing projections, risk registers, sub agreements, QC records, deliverable submittals, invoices. Establish working relationships and interface with client technical staff and client project managers Mentor supporting Civil design staffQualifications and Skills:
BS in Civil Engineering 10+ years of related experience PElicensure in TN or ability to obtain within 6 months TDOT design experience preferred Experience in design with highways, intersections, roundabouts, interchanges, widenings, and bike/ped facilities. Experience or familiarity with OpenRoads Design (ORD) and/or Geopak Strong inter-personal skills for client and other engineering discipline interactionCompensation Range:
