Technical Writer (Engineering / Validation)
Location:
Irvine, CA (SoCal) OR Palo Alto, CA (Onsite)
Duration:
6-12+ Months Contract •W2-Visa-independent candidates required •
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Writer with a strong engineering background to create high-quality documentation for complex hardware and software products. The role involves working closely with engineering, product, and support teams to develop technical reports, validation documentation, and user guides. This position requires the ability to analyze raw technical data and convert it into structured, clear, and accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain technical documentation including: Validation Compliance Test Reports Test plans, procedures, and specifications Create user-focused content such as product guides, installation manuals, and application documentation Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and support Perform end-to-end documentation lifecycle: research, structuring, writing, editing, and publishing Maintain document version control for digital and print formats Ensure documentation is scalable and can be translated across multiple regions/languages Continuously update documentation based on product enhancements and feedback
Required Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in technical writing (hardware/software products) Strong engineering background (mandatory) Ability to understand and interpret complex technical data Experience creating validation reports, specifications, and test documentation Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Preferred Skills:
Experience with structured/content-based writing Familiarity with tools such as MadCap Flare, Oxygen XML, or HTML-based authoring tools Exposure to electrical, mechanical, or system-level documentation
