Job Title:
Quality Engineer Job Description This Quality Engineer role focuses on driving robust quality practices across design, planning, manufacturing, and program execution for a growing launch vehicle program. You will own key quality processes, standardize engineering documentation, support design for manufacturability, and lead initiatives that enhance product reliability and production efficiency. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet stringent quality standards and program objectives. Responsibilities Own quality activities across the product lifecycle, including design, planning, manufacturing, and program-level processes. Standardize engineering drawings to improve clarity, consistency, and manufacturability. Support design for manufacturability (DFM) efforts to ensure designs are optimized for production and quality. Manage configuration control to maintain accurate and current documentation for parts, assemblies, and processes. Review work instructions to ensure they are clear, complete, and aligned with quality and process requirements. Develop and improve manufacturing processes to enhance quality, repeatability, and efficiency. Create and maintain standard rework and repair documentation to ensure consistent and controlled rework practices. Perform in-process build verification to confirm that products meet specifications at key stages of manufacturing. Coordinate travelled work to ensure quality requirements are met when work moves between stations, facilities, or teams. Administer and improve nonconformance ticket processes, including documentation, disposition, and follow-up. Conduct as-built verification to ensure final assemblies match design intent and configuration records. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities to prevent recurrence of quality issues. Drive initiatives that facilitate quality improvements in the launch vehicle program, including process and systems enhancements. Spearhead development of specifications that define quality and technical requirements for components and assemblies. Develop walk-down checklists and other tools to support thorough inspections and verification activities. Support automation initiatives for quality inspection to increase efficiency, consistency, and data accuracy. Familiarity with printed circuit board (PCB) quality or inspection processes. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply drawing standardization practices. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, test, and launch or operations teams. Strong documentation skills for work instructions, rework procedures, and nonconformance records. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supporting launch vehicle, aerospace, or other complex, highly regulated products. Background in design for manufacturability (DFM) and configuration management. Exposure to automation tools or systems used for quality inspection. Experience developing specifications, checklists, and other structured quality tools. Familiarity with additive manufacturing processes and associated quality considerations. Experience working in cross-functional environments that include Engineering, Additive, Manufacturing, Test, and Launch or operations teams. Work Environment The role operates in a highly collaborative, engineering-driven environment focused on launch vehicle development and production. You will work closely with Engineering, Additive, Manufacturing, Test, and Launch teams, engaging daily with production floors, test areas, and engineering offices. The environment emphasizes structured quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and AS9100, and relies on ERP and QMS tools to manage documentation, configuration, and nonconformance processes.
