Job Title Quality Assurance Engineer III Responsible for all aspects of the design, development, and implementation of quality systems and processes design, creation/management of documentation/support drawings through the application of professionally accepted quality engineering principles and techniques. Individual contributor who is recognized as a technical expert across multiple markets and technical fields. Provides significant and positive business impact to CoorsTek by introducing new ideas and solutions to further company's profitability through expansion of the company's CORE quality portfolio. Advises teams and factories as a subject matter expert for resolving process upsets and driving new process implementation. Independently represents CoorsTek with Customers on technical matters across the multiple markets and CoorsTek product offerings. Mentors early- and mid-career quality engineers through one on one interactions, lectures, seminars, and classes. Provides expert technical evaluation of external quality technologies, including advice to Senior Management with regard to development of quality engineering, business processes, quality business systems and / or key customer quality relationships Advises management in the creation of quality roadmaps to capture new business opportunities as well as develop long term global strategy. Chooses and executes exploratory projects to develop innovative solutions for the company. Applies accepted quality engineering principles, completes assigned tasks efficiently under minimal supervision; confers with other technical personnel on complex matters, specific assignment objectives, points of emphasis, reference and information sources, and possible solutions as needed. Interprets customer and company technical drawings for sales and manufacturing departments to ensure products are manufactured in accordance with quality specifications; suggests modifications to improve the manufacturing process Develops and maintains complete and accurate written records (i.e. First Article Reports and process documentation), for new products and/or processes or improvements to existing product and/or processes Coordinates projects and quality engineering efforts across multiple product categories, processes or sites as needed Interacts with customers and suppliers to clarify points, research material and investigate improvements to current and future processes. Functions in conjunction with sales personnel, interacting directly with customers in the development of new products and to communicate capabilities while providing solutions in response to customer request of current production issues. Plans, schedules, and coordinates detailed phases of quality engineering work as a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Works on assignments that routinely include QMS design and development, Structured Problem Solving, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigations, report preparation and other activities requiring knowledge of accepted engineering principles, practices, and techniques. Provides training/cross-training in Structured Problem Solving, SPC, PCS, equipment, software and process operations Supervises lower level engineers or technicians via matrix as a direct supervisor or in a defined project environment Assists and/or performs in any and all areas as assigned Works any and all shifts/days as required Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering with 10 years relevant experience or Master's degree in Engineering or business or related Physical Science with 7 years relevant experience or PhD in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering with 5 years relevant experience Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Possesses ability to perform detail-oriented tasks utilizing excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as intermediate math and computer skills. Excellent listening skills necessary. Requires proficiency in specific job-related software and understanding of computer programs, applications and databases Requires proficiency in technical drawing interpretation Understands manufacturing/quality techniques and possesses thorough knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques Possesses skills with Quality Management systems, Quality Engineering (ASQ certification preferred) and project management Possesses detailed understanding of machining processes and associated manufacturing technologies Works effectively with a diverse group of people from different cultures and backgrounds Must possess ability to perform detail-oriented tasks utilizing excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as intermediate math and computer skills. Excellent listening skills necessary.
