Job Description

Position Summary The Quality Engineer for Mainstream is responsible for developing and leading all quality assurance and quality engineering activities, as well as overseeing and coordinating several quality inspectors. The QC department is responsible for supplier quality validation, incoming materials inspection, in-process inspections, final product validation and maintaining appropriate records for traceability. The Quality Engineer shall also be responsible for administration of the QMS software and maintaining compliance efforts for ISO9001 and other certifications. Candidates should be hands-on and be familiar working in a manufacturing/assembly environment dealing with a wide array of products from machined components, plastic molded components, sheet metal, tubing assemblies, wiring harnesses, electronics/PCB, and chemical products for both the military and commercial sectors.
Essential duties include:
Oversight and training of inspectors in proper techniques and following quality procedures Building quality in the new product development process by partnering with engineering to implement advanced product quality planning and developing inspection plans Proper interpretation of technical drawing GD&T per
ASME Y14.5
Improving existing inspection/quality procedures and implementing new quality procedures that leverage commercially-proven methodologies and ensuring that the department conforms to these principles. Performing accurate dimensional inspections and generate inspection reports Administration of QMS software (e.g. QT9) Overseeing company-wide documentation revision control Inspection of all incoming production material, hardware, components, and assemblies Establishing Supplier Quality Assurance, and partnering with the supply chain team to develop proactive supplier risk management process Maintaining quality records that document the quality status of incoming material and outgoing products and providing necessary information and cumulative data for internal and external customer responses. Identifying and dispositioning nonconforming products (NCPs) Evaluating returned merchandise (RMAs) and determining root cause Maintaining certification and compliance efforts for ISO 9001, and other required certifications. Position Requirements AS or BS in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, or applicable technical field and/or a recognized quality certification program is required. Minimum 5 years quality leadership experience. Minimum 10 years overall quality experience. In depth knowledge of quality and reliability methods and procedures for hardware and software systems as they apply to the aerospace and defense industry. Experience with QT9 Quality Management Software (or similar) preferred. US citizenship required due to strict ITAR regulations Mainstream Engineering Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
