Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer II to support quality assurance, continuous improvement, and customer-satisfaction initiatives within a plastic-injection-molding manufacturing environment. This position will work proactively with internal departments, suppliers, and customers to improve product and process quality, reduce scrap and returns, and strengthen the Quality Management System. Less than 5% Essential Duties and Responsibilities Support and maintain theISO 9001
Quality Management System. Coordinate and conduct internal plant quality audits. Organize and monitor plant calibration activities. Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, operations, suppliers, and customers to improve product and process quality. Lead data-driven continuous-improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, defects, customer returns, and production waste. Review and investigate internal nonconformances and customer-return issues. Identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. Issue and respond to internal and external corrective-action requests, including 8D reports. Develop PPAP documentation, control plans, process-flow diagrams, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses. Perform process-capability studies, including Cpk and Ppk analysis. Use quality data and statistical methods to identify trends and recommend improvements. Maintain required product certifications and quality documentation. Develop and revise work instructions, procedures, inspection profiles, and manufacturing-quality documentation. Review engineering prints, drawings, material specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. Assist with maintaining current revisions of prints, procedures, specifications, and standards. Translate engineering requirements and technical notes into clear instructions for the manufacturing floor. Establish approved part-inspection methods, frequencies, and acceptance criteria. Work directly with quality inspectors to strengthen inspection techniques and measurement skills. Provide quality-related training to inspectors, machine operators, supervisors, and other employees. Support new-product launches, process changes, and special manufacturing processes. Participate in customer, supplier, internal, and certification audits. Communicate quality concerns, corrective actions, and improvement plans to management and cross-functional teams. Perform additional quality and engineering responsibilities as assigned. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. Minimum of four years of quality-engineering experience within an ISO- or IATF/TS-certified manufacturing facility. Previous experience in plastic injection molding or a related high-volume manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. Experience supportingISO 9001
certification and audit activities required. Hands-on experience with PPAPs, control plans, process-flow diagrams, PFMEAs, 8D corrective actions, and process-capability studies. Experience investigating customer complaints, product returns, scrap, defects, and internal nonconformances. Required Skills and Qualifications Strong knowledge of quality-management systems and manufacturing-quality practices. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Total Quality Management, Kaizen, Design of Experiments, FMEA, and other continuous-improvement methods preferred. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, prints, specifications, standards, dimensions, and tolerances. Strong root-cause analysis, corrective-action, and problem-solving skills. Strong analytical ability and experience using data to guide decisions. Excellent organizational and project-management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong written, verbal, presentation, negotiation, and facilitation skills. Effective conflict-resolution and customer-service abilities. Ability to lead projects while also working successfully as part of a team. Ability to communicate professionally with employees, customers, suppliers, auditors, and other external business contacts. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Project. Work Environment This position operates in both an office and active manufacturing environment. The employee may be exposed to production machinery, plastic materials, noise, and other typical manufacturing conditions. Required personal protective equipment and all safety procedures must be followed.
