Quality Engineer Cablecraft Motion Controls / Radial Bearing | New Haven, Indiana Build Quality Into the Process — Not Just the Final Product Cablecraft is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join our manufacturing team in New Haven, Indiana. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems on the manufacturing floor, working directly with customers, and turning quality challenges into lasting process improvements. You'll have a highly visible role supporting the quality of our products and manufacturing processes—from APQP and PPAP through production, inspection, corrective action, and customer resolution. What You'll Do As our Quality Engineer, you will: Serve as a key technical resource for product, process, and customer quality . Lead and support APQP activities for new and revised products and manufacturing processes. Develop and submit accurate, timely PPAP packages in accordance with customer requirements. Interpret customer-specific quality requirements and translate them into effective manufacturing and inspection controls. Lead customer quality investigations and corrective actions, driving issues through root cause identification, containment, corrective action, and verified closure . Apply structured problem-solving tools including 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa/Fishbone, Root Cause Analysis, and statistical methods . Develop and maintain Control Plans, inspection instructions, gage requirements, sampling plans, and quality documentation . Analyze statistical and manufacturing data to identify trends and improve product and process capability. Partner directly with Production, Engineering, and inspection personnel to resolve manufacturing quality issues. Provide technical direction and coaching to Quality Inspectors . Support and participate in internal and layered process audits . Support the development and maintenance of the company's formal quality management systems. Drive continuous improvement of products, manufacturing processes, and quality systems using Six Sigma and other process-improvement methodologies . Work directly with customers and internal teams to strengthen quality performance and prevent recurrence of issues. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who can combine strong technical quality knowledge with practical manufacturing problem-solving.
Preferred qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline , or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Automotive or other highly regulated manufacturing experience preferred. Strong working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, SPC, Control Plans, GD&T, calibration, inspection techniques, and engineering drawings . Demonstrated experience using structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis tools. Experience working with formal quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and automotive quality requirements. Strong knowledge of precision measuring equipment, gages, and inspection methods. Ability to effectively communicate with customers, production employees, inspectors, engineers, and leadership. Strong analytical, organizational, written, and presentation skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize competing issues, and take ownership of problems through resolution. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and related business systems. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification is preferred. Six Sigma Black Belt certification is a plus. What Success Looks Like Success in this role isn't simply maintaining quality documentation. You'll be expected to understand what's happening on the manufacturing floor, use data to identify what is driving an issue, work collaboratively to establish the right corrective action, and make sure the solution sticks. You'll help strengthen the connection between Quality, Engineering, Operations, our customers, and the people actually making and inspecting our products.
